Why this role matters

The purpose of this role is to be accountable for Wholesale Workflow Management system focusing on E2E Inventory planning within BT’s 21CN platform – from design and development to the in-life support of all the systems and solutions for P&B, L2C, T2R journey’s and for any other business related operations and journeys. The job has direct impact on WS bottom line, customer experience, and health of the organization. This role covers all product journey across BT products like HE, MEAS, WBC, Voice, Mobile and forward looking inventory view on fixed and mobile convergence including 5G. The role holder should also have a fair understanding on the BSS/OSS domain and be equipped latest trends in the Industry. The role holder shall lead geographically distributed teams across BT FTEs and subcons to design, development, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting of IT systems.

This role also includes Energy systems in a single estate management solution that enables the monitoring, configuration, reporting and analysis of the performance of individual and/or multiple BEMS devices (e.g. single controller, groups of controllers, groups of buildings or all. And a new Power Management System that is the hub for both STOR and TRIAD. The system will perform a few key functions:- a. Provide TSO teams a user front end for both single and multiple engine starts/stops; b. Provide a much enhanced engine. Further, role includes managing systems that provide a reporting data warehouse to facilitate detailed analytics of BT's energy consumption and to assist with historic reporting of associated Energy Systems data

What you'll be doing

The role holder closely work with Network counterparts to come up with an agile planning and design process which helps BT deliver quickest way to expand the capacity. Also, the role holder plays an important role in helping network teams to be able to use a highly reliable, fully configurable & devops supported, catalogue driven agile OSS solutions.

The role is focused on best practices, technology, and delivering business value through high quality software. The role holder shall possess rich knowledge of orchestration policies and schemes along with the direct impacts on the SDN Space.

  • The role holder shall lead a combination of BT FTE (ranging from 20 to 35) across India and UK and Subcontractor teams (ranging from 50 to 150), geographically distributed.

  • The role holder shall have a span of 6-8 DRs and manage an estate of GMC ranging from 3.5 to 5 mil GBP.

  • Define and co-own architecture jointly with platform architects and deliver IT system artefacts to have capabilities for planning, design and orchestration of next gen networks using virtualised infra, SDN, NFV etc using TOSCA based catalog and aligned to the industry leading framework and architecture.

  • Leading the technical teams in Rationalising existing network physical and logical planning onto a simplified Orchestration and Inventory Management Platform.Write business cases for star chambers and get stakeholder’s approval to deliver IT solutions for new network & technology propositionsService orchestration systems are is the heart of L2C journey where customer orders are fulfilled by taking intelligent decisions based on the pre-configured rules to enable service fulfilment by adhering to pre-defined SLA’s & KPI.These systems are mission critical and first time right has significant impact on the customer experiences. These experiences directly impacts BT NPS (Net Promoter Score). It is critical that these systems are up and running, always available in order to fulfil the services BT offers. Absence of these systems has huge critical and direct impact on business, impacting BT brand, commitment to provide uninterrupted services on time, RFT (Right First Time), revenues and SLA penalties. This role shall ensure that these systems are in good health, meet the business needs in terms of service fulfilment and have a well-defined roadmap to move along with the latest needs of MFUs and also from the technology angle.

The role shall offer a strategic thinking capability and shall work towards creating a very high impact in terms of cost savings of up to 5-6mil GBP in and a cost avoidance of > 100mil GBP next 3-5 years. This shall be delivered through transformation strategy defined for the estate and also along TSO2020 objectives in terms of creating number one network to offer world class services. The role shall also have a deep visibility of industry standards, be able to articulate and apply the same for BT. It is desirable for the role to take part in industry community, present ideas or obtain learnings from other telecom service providers and bring them into practice based on the applicability to BT.

The role holder shall ensure the service orchestration estate runs in a healthy state, fulfilling the needs of business ask. He shall take the accountability for making strategic decisions on tools and technologies (including development of those in-house) used as per industry standard, be able to make appropriate decisions from technical feasibility point of view and financial viability. This enables MFUs to offer world class services with low cost operability and maintainability.

The role holder shall clearly define a strategic roadmap for the estate in line with MFU needs, work with stakeholders to define business cases, present in DC and Star Chambers and secure the funding. He/She shall execute the transformation strategy to deliver the business benefits promised.

  • Accountable for delivering next generation SRIMS systems (through transformation), offering a cost savings of up to 5-6 mil and avoidance of >100mil in next 5 years. The role holder shall define a clear roadmap, align stakeholder’s support and deliver the business benefits

  • Shall lead a geographically distributed team of 35-60 FTEs and 100-150 subcons, with a DR span of 6-8 and a GMC of 4.5 mil GBP

  • Responsible for working closely with network design, teams, CIOs and MFUs to offer the best solution, reducing dependency on 3 rd party expensive solutions

  • Accountable for clearly defining the platform strategy in terms of tools & technologies used, define the roadmap, execute them

  • Accountable for aligning the teams, defining strategy for Agile OSS where orchestration is part of it, delivering the vision of programmable network, in line with TSO2020 vision of making a number one network.

  • Good understanding on the OSS/BSS Domain and have delivered complex transformation engagements with Telecom Operators.

  • In depth hands on Software Design and Development experience in the area of Java, J2EE, Database and associated technologies for a full stack product delivery management.

  • Good understanding of Telecom OSS, must in the Orchestration& inventory area and preferably in the area of CRM integration, BSS Order Management integration with exposure to Inventory Management, the impact they can create on rest of OSS systems along T2R or P&B journey.

  • Good understanding of BT product offerings like WBC, HE, MEAS, Mobile, Voice, Ethernet, MPLS and GS Contracts space.

  • Good understanding of TOSCA and related technology, along with conventional fulfilment interfacing approaches.

  • Good understanding of SDN/NFV to be able to apply in project delivery at Industry standards.
