What I'll be doing - your accountabilities

You will be managing the delivery of BT Products and solutions to our customers locally and around the world to defined time, cost and quality standards. You will be in direct contact with our customers, BT Teams and Third parties, managing and coordinating the activities to achieve Customer and BT goals.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Planning and Oversight – you’ll produce plans, logs, and schedules, and track these. You’ll conduct kick-off meetings, supplier and customer checkpoint meetings, and highlight reviews, and produces reports, agendas, and notes for same. You’ll facilitates technical and project workshops.

  • Team Management – You’ll mobilise cross-functional project teams and manages them during the implementation by coordinating their activities and holding them to account for their technical deliverables.

  • Risk Management – You’ll operate as a risk manager and apply risk analysis techniques. You’ll produce exception and recovery plans and makes effective use of the escalation mechanism.

  • Change Management – You’ll operate as a configuration or change manager and be able to implement and operate a configuration management policy and baseline.

  • Financial Management – You’ll produce PM estimates of effort for new work. You’ll provide and assure actual and forecast information for project financial reviews and project closure so that you’ll keep the project on track financially and escalate variances as appropriate.

  • Stakeholder Management – You’ll apply relationship management skills and be able to build and own client and stakeholder relationships at middle and senior management levels.

Skills required for the job

  • You'll have experience in customer facing project management in the telecoms sector with a track record of commercial and/or technical achievement and profit improvement, revenue growth and cost reduction.

  • You'll have the ability to deliver to tight times scales, innovate and 'think outside the box' to deliver products and solutions that meet customers stated requirements.

  • You'll have exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills along with strong influencing skills.

  • You’ll have proven ability to manage virtual teams and foster collaborative team working across customers, internally and with third party suppliers

  • You’ll be able to provide clear evidence of managing customer and internal stakeholders to set and manage expectations together with effective communication skills at all levels

  • You’ll have a proven track record of delivering projects while managing requirements to avoid scope creep

  • A degree/professional qualification is desirable however it's more important to us that you bring the right level of experience, capability and desire to succeed

  • Prince2, Agile and/or similar Project Management Methodology Qualifications

Experience you would be expected to have

Mandatory:

  • Experience in customer facing project management roles

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills

  • Ability to continuously strive for better ways of working to meet and exceed customer expectations

  • Excellent time management skills with aibilty to innovate and 'think outside the box' to deliver products and solutions that meet customers stated requirements

Preferred:

  • Strong influencing skills

  • A degree/professional qualification is desirable

  • Experience in telecoms sector is an advantage

Why this job matters

The Project Professional supports the planning, execution and delivery of complex projects through all specific phases, in alignment with BT Group strategies and external customer contractual requirements.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Works with an integrated team in the delivery of end-to-end small-scale projects/ programmes contributing to commercial benefit, deliver on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria from conception through to market launch and transition into operations.

  2. Supports complex and large-scale projects with regional impact (cross-functional), coordinating through delivery of execution, analysis, recommendation and implementation whilst ensuring a base level of technical specialism proficiency.

  3. Supports issue escalations, identifies project risks, dependencies and project changes, ensuring timely intervention and communication to stakeholders.

  4. Supports the development, documentation and implementation of projects and change initiatives in line with BT Group policies and strategies, defining and maintaining realistic project plans and tracking project finances and progress against agreed quality and performance criteria.

  5. Supports timely reporting on project performance and where decision making is required, providing all information needed to enable well-informed decision making.

  6. Reviews, suggests and executes process improvements and efficiencies with the engagement and delivery models.

  7. Supports the definition, documentation and execution of small projects or sub-projects, agreeing and reviewing project approach, engagement and communications plans, and quality and performance criteria with project partners.

  8. Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the area of Project/Programme Management & PMO.

  9. Facilitates effective working relationships between team members, and develops business/ customer and partner relationships, handling problems and issues, collecting and disseminating relevant information.

  10. Proactively identifies and manages risk through regular assessment and diligent execution of controls and mitigations, proactively raising any concerns.

  11. Ensures project delivery activity complies with the commercial obligations, risks and interdependencies defined within external delivery contract for their projects.
