Technical Delivery Team Leader - Data Professional

Why this role matters
The Data Professional will be part of a technical team responsible for the creation, development, maintenance and running of our Fibre Network & Delivery (FND) Business Unit data sets.
This role is available in multiple UK locations although our preference is a London or Leicester base.
This role is important as data is the lifeblood of any business. Without accurate data FND would not be able to generate the analytics and insight needed to operate effectively.
The role holder will have an expert understanding of data, and in particular our data, data sources, and systems. You will work on projects across a number of products and programmes where you will be responsible for data building and maintenance activities across all of our products. You will untangle the complex data which currently exists, and turn this into structured data which will be used by various teams across BI and wider FND to drive operational insight.
As a data expert in FND you may coach other less experienced members of the team, or provide technical support to analysts in operational teams.
What you'll be doing
Responsibility for the creation, management, and development of the data sets on our Oracle warehouse that are used to make decisions and influence our 10,000 desk and filed staff, 7000 contractors and key stakeholders across Openreach.
An expert on supplying data to, and collecting data from, stores such as systems and databases.
Build and maintain data in line with FND’s data strategy.
Working with key stakeholders to understand the tools and data available, tying data back to operational decision making and context as required.
To work with other technical experts in Technology and CTIO to address and solve FND’s data problems.

A highly capable developer of Oracle SQL that links datasets together to answer core questions and allows people to extract the new datasets.
A great coach of people, with an ability to explain technical aspects clearly and concisely.
Automation skills so that data builds flow regularly and reliably.
Ability to deal with ambiguity / unknowns and still make progress on multiple projects at once.
Ability to self-teach new skills and a hunger to improve.
ETL skills, e.g. scheduling Oracle scripts, monitoring log files, table partitioning, PLSQL, scripting in Linux, FTP, Hadoop, SharePoint administration (Advantageous)
Familiarity with Datalab (a dataworld covering Openreach’s business), Orbit and other key datasets. (Advantageous)
