The Internal Controls and Assurance Manager, together with the rest of the Internal Controls, Assurance and Governance team from Business RCA, are at the heart of this activity in the Business CFU, working across all departments, verticals, levels and regions to keep BT Business safe and enable it to achieve its objectives, be trusted by customers and connect for good.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the implementation and oversight of Business’s internal control framework across all Group Risk Categories (GRCs), including close cooperation with unit control owners, operators and managers on control design, implementation and continuous improvement

  • Identifies and supports in controlling operational risks and making recommendations to reduce risks based on costs or assumptions for remediation solutions presented by the business.

  • Facilitate control changes as required, including communicating changes and amending as required in the risk and control database, ensuring control activity is accurately reflected.

  • Close collaboration with BRCA Business Partners to ensure internal control and assurance management information is being passed on and also received

  • Unit Audit/Assurance liaison: acting as ‘traffic control’ for in-unit assurance activity; supporting unit teams with assurance queries and actions; advice to unit teams on remediation of assurance findings; and a primary point of contact for Group assurance providers.

  • Preparing management reporting for Business leadership on the status of the internal control framework and unit assurance activity

  • Represent the Business RCA team on various Group RCA fora and work closely with peers in Group Risk and other Unit RCA teams on sharing best practice and developing group-wide solutions to internal control and assurance challenges

  • Contributes towards projects and initiatives that contribute to the development of a future facing and resilient RCA function capable of predicting current or future risk trends in the business environment, driving the execution of suitable strategies to proactively mitigate anticipated risks and demonstrate potential opportunities.

  • Mentors other Business Assurance professionals, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.

  • Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Business Assurance.

Skills:

Stakeholder engagement and management : strong skills working with diverse groups of stakeholders and the ability to relay complex concepts in a simple, straightforward manner

Data Management and Reporting: The ability to manage and analyze large data sets, import and export data from databases, and prepare clear and insightful reporting and metrics.

Risk and Control Framework : Significant experience with internal controls management (e.g. control design, implementation, assessment, assurance, reporting) and experience using internal controls databases.

Curiosity and continuous improvement : A desire to understand the intricacies and complexities of the business, asking ‘why’, and seeking opportunities to help the business improve and progress.

Integrity and Honesty : Doing the right thing and a willingness to speak up, challenge and hold to account.

Advanced level of business assurance, internal control management and business improvement.

Experience:

  • Experience writing, implementing, operating and/or assuring internal controls in a large corporate environment (Mandatory)

  • Experience writing reports and presentations for senior leadership teams (Mandatory)

  • Significant experience working in, or with, an audit/assurance function (Mandatory)

Previous experience in the telco sector (preferred)
