As a Software engineer, the role will be responsible for managing and monitoring of turn key projects within Field Engineering Systems. Projects range from Visualising data from multiple RDBMS systems to developing Deep learning capabilities on the mine of data available in Enterprise Work Management Systems.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and successfully deliver multiple parallel projects.

  • Guide / Mentor team of around 4-10 Software Engineers / Apprentices, shall include Line Management.

  • Liaise and Manage vendor teams to drive the key Business demands into designs and implementation routines.

  • Will be responsible for preparing and presenting project plans for multitude projects ranging from modernising applications to delivering business demands to transform systems stack.

  • Devise and own project scope, timelines, execute and monitor the same.

  • Track financials, prepare reports, raise and manage purchase orders, Drives BT’s efficiency targets both in cost and quality.

  • Analyse resourcing demands, review / propose solutions by presenting multiple options of meeting the demand crunch vs talent constraints.

  • To work as SPOC with both the vendors and internal organisation of Customer Experience teams, Users, Delivery managers, architects, designers, infrastructure teams, developers, etc.

  • Adhere to processes and standards

  • To conduct regular project reviews and implement corrective actions.

Essential Skills

  • Manage software changes delivered by 3rd Party service partners, managing system and documentation changes.

  • Ability to defined key milestones in the project lifecycle.

  • Experience of working with / managing service providers.

  • Experience of managing an offshore delivery model.

  • Manage and escalate the challenges at appropriate times to Senior Managers.

  • Identify the key risks and manage / mitigate the risks.

  • Should have proven Microsoft Excel capabilities to merge, split data flowing at Unit level to the Field services area level.

  • Should be able to prepare and talk through aesthetic presentations defining underlying business benefits for an identified demand.

  • Adept at identifying the business benefits associated with a release and Articulate the benefits in crisp and clear presentable materials.

  • Experience in raising purchase orders, receiving invoices and receipting the payments, basic understanding of finance process is mandatory.

  • Skills in automating / scripting mundane tasks is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced delivery environment in a flexible and responsive manner

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including communication, management of expectation, recommendations, quality of outputs, and working accurately to tight deadlines

  • Experience to build and maintain relationships both externally and with customers throughout the company.

  • Quick to learn, ability to prioritise activities and responsive to the needs of the business.

  • Proven experience in handling and dealing technical teams in the use of technical software

  • Ability to convey technical concepts to a non-technical audience in very well documented presentations.

Desirable Skills

  • Well versed in multiple development methodologies, especially Agile

  • Exposure to basic finance skills of raising PO’s, receipts, Invoices, etc.

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong expertise in Office 365 / Teams / Planner, etc.

  • Adopts new and emerging working methods to provide innovative solutions to meet customer needs

  • Ability to technically initiate, lead, motivate and mentor the team continuously.

  • Very Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong decision-making skills



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 1 - 5 years of experience in the IT industry with at least 2 years in Managing Projects.

  • CAPM / Prince 2 / ITES certifications will be an advantage


  • PMP Certified.

  • Experience in any programming language.
