BT Statistical Modelling Professional in Ireland, United Kingdom
Statistical Modelling Professional,
Our purpose is to use the power of communications to make a better world. For each other, for our customers, for society and our communities. We need you to help us do this.
Why this role matters
You'll be part of a very specialist team of data scientists and statistical modelling experts, responsible for building complex statistical and mathematical models to help our Fibre Network Delivery (FND) area of business better understand its operational performance and the levers that might influence improved performance.
You'll be involved in a range of projects, covering a number of different FND programmes, where a more rigorous analytical approach is required as standard analysis is unable to cope with the complexity of the scenario. For example, this could include Monte Carlo simulation to predict performance against Ofcom mandated Minimum Service Levels, or complex optimisation modelling such as Patch Optimisation.
What you'll be doing
Developing and running statistical and operational research models that support the achievement of FND targets including throughput, service, productivity and regulatory compliance.
Ensuring you understand the model output, and can generate actionable insight from it.
Coaching other less experienced members of the team, or providing technical analytical support to analysts in operational team.
Communicating technical complex scenarios, and interpreting it for non-technical stakeholders.
Using variety of tools (such as R, Simul8, SAS) as well as utilising statistical analysis.
Using your business knowledge and expertise to generate business-relevant, actionable insights to be presented to FND managers.
Challenging and creating recommendations, based on solid analysis that allows FND to make informed decisions on the order and priority of improvements.
Communicating in an inspiring, compelling and interesting way using real case study examples and/or benchmark information.
We'll also need to see these on your CV
Proven track record in a Data Science, Modelling, or Analytics environment.
Knowledge of the Fibre and Ethernet delivery process, end to end systems, and relevant products within the telecoms industry desirable.
Experience of relevant statistical or operational research tools.
Competent in statistical analysis (such as multi-variate regression, A/B tests, clustering, sampling, etc) and modelling techniques (such as Monte-Carlo modelling, Discrete Event Simulation, Nearest Neighbours, Decision Trees, etc).
Project Management experience desirable.
