BT Senior Manager, Payments Services in Kolkata, India

About this role

  • Accountable for cash management across BT Plc including receipting and cash application, payment controls, audit, refunds, month end reconciliation and reporting

  • Develop payments strategy for all CFUs, implementing new payment methodologies and optimising payment journeys as required

  • Accountable for ensuring BT is compliant with card payment and EU payment services legislation and regulatory changes as they impact the payments sector

  • Independently leads Payment Services operations including management of all budgets, operational KPIs, workforce forecasting and recruitment

  • Owning BT’s relationship with the respective payment schemes (such as BACs, direct debit, cheque processing, cards), ensuring BT are optimising the schemes and feedback is provided into the development of the schemes

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Accountable for timely and accurate customer cash payments processing

  • Accountable for cash management across BT Plc including receipting and cash application, payment controls, audit, refunds, month end reconciliation and reporting

  • Accountable for bank contracts as well as bank statement management and reconciliation

  • Develop payments strategy for all CFUs, implementing new payment methodologies as required,plan card payments channels to best use BT estate and reduce the number of suppliers.

  • Accountable for ensuring BT is compliant with card payment and EU payment services legislation and regulatory changes as they impact the payments sector including future legislation planning example PSD2.

  • Responsible for budget management of BPO and merchant acquirer contracts, as well as costs associated with Payments services such as credit card commissions

  • Re-engineering of processes and setting effective policies to create clean payment processes to ensure that root causes are analysed and proactively eliminated

  • Manage and own the Buynet platform, customer base, legislation.

  • Reduction of cash in suspense and unclaimed credits/debits in line with business unit targets

  • Implementation and review of industry best practice payment processesand policies compliant with SARBOX and Audit standards

  • Surpass external benchmarks on efficiency and quality

  • Support the GCB strategy and goal of, “making it easy for our customers to pay on time”

  • Customer cash payments processing of £20bn annually

  • Allocating payments associated with 17m Direct Debits per month, 1.6m card transactions per month

  • Ensuring credit clearances are in line with BT policy – c£4-5m pa

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Strong leadership capability and vision to set strategic direction

  • Excellent communication and exec stakeholder management relationship skills required

  • Building strong relationships with 3 rd party suppliers ensuring SLAs and contractual commitments are met

  • Leadership of large and virtual teams requires strong communication skills and ability to manage and motivate remotely

  • Inputs to monthly operational review with CFU stakeholders

  • Policy review and addressing outstanding payment processing issues impacting business goals

  • Experience in Payments Services industry –

  • Understanding of UK & EU payment services legislation and regulatory environment -

  • Strong, visible leadership, translation of strategy into directions, goals and targets

  • Experience of re-engineering and automation of processes

  • Strong payment services /financial skills -
