This role requires hands on approach in all visual design related activities. Typically, this will involve working and understanding multiplatform applications as well as other services of the future (Digital Transformation). You should be passionate about creating award winning designs to aid and support the user experiences ensuring they are engaging, simple, functional and fun. Everything you do is grounded in user centred design.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to ensure that products and services fulfil customer needs, are highly intuitive to use and align with the BT brand values. As a junior designer you should be ready to develop your existing skills by working with more senior creative staff on a range of ambitious and innovative projects.

You will be responsible for helping to drive the creation of online campaigns, have a good understanding of typography, layout, and design best practice for online applications to ensure as a team we produce the best work possible. At the same time you will have the opportunity to hone and develop your skills and design knowledge by learning from your peers.

A good knowledge of the following tools is usually required:

  • Photoshop

  • Illustrator

  • InDesign

  • Communication is a big part of the job, so as a junior designer you must feel confident enough to contribute to the entire creative process. Keeping a finger on the pulse of current trends is also key when moving towards promotion and recognition. Typical activities *

A junior designer needs a wide range of design and creative capabilities. These include:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Adeptness with key design software packages

  • A determination to achieve and succeed

  • Some creative industry experience

  • Keep up to date with the latest UI design and usability trends and techniques

  • The ability to meet deadlines in a high pressure environment

  • A background of working as part of a design team

  • The ability to see projects through from inception to production at

  • Consistency regardless of project size

  • Good organisational skills that support the rest of the team

  • The motivation to maintain and improve design standards

  • The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve

  • A flexible approach to get the best from the job.As a Visual Designer you will

  • Demonstrate innovative and creative thinking

  • Maintain brand & UI consistency across

  • Collaborate very closely with and support other UI and UX designers

Visual Design skills

  • Understanding of designing across platforms

  • Be a Visual Design advocate at all times

  • Have knowledge and skills in communicating concepts – sketches, and high fidelity designs.

  • Proficient inAdobe Creative Suite and other similar tools

  • Ability to work alongside UX and Visual Designers, analytics teams to ensure best in class visual designs

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of basic online technologies and how to design for them

  • Ability to work with front end development teams.
