We are seeking an experienced Network Designer to maintain our existing core network, create innovative solutions to meet customer requirements, and contribute to the transformation toward the latest cloud-based technologies. Currently, we are focused on delivering Wifi 7 and convergence as part of BT’s strategic goals.

As part of a DevOps team, you will work with a variety of technologies, including Wifi access points, routing, switching, load balancing, and firewalls. This role offers the opportunity to take developments from initial concept to deployment and collaborate closely with the product team.

What you’ll be doing

You will work as part of a collaborative team to deliver comprehensive Wifi network solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining new and existing network solutions.

  • Migrating network designs to cloud-based technologies.

  • Supporting and testing customer Wifi networks in challenging environments.

  • Working with business and platform teams to understand requirements and design network solutions.

  • Collaborating with BTWifi software and systems/server teams to dimension and realize production services.

  • Testing designs and working with end-to-end testers in lab facilities to identify successes and areas for improvement.

  • Working closely with the platform architect and design authority to follow the correct strategy and architecture in designs.

  • Analyzing security concerns and applying best practices when developing designs.

  • Directly supporting the end-to-end test team and addressing any bugs identified during testing.

  • Ensuring service availability through DevOps practices, monitoring, and troubleshooting operational issues.

  • Planning and executing changes to the Public Wifi platform, including occasional overnight work alongside testing teams.

What you'll bring

We are looking for a passionate individual who enjoys learning and sharing knowledge while continuously striving for improvement. The ideal candidate will have:

Mandatory:

  • Experience with core network designs using Cisco IOS-XR and IOS-XE software.

  • Proficiency in IP technologies to a CCNA level standard.

  • Knowledge of security technologies, including Firewalls and IPSec.

Advantageous:

  • Familiarity with F5 BigIP products and load balancing technology.

  • Experience with Wifi access points, particularly Meraki or Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers.

  • Understanding of supporting technologies such as DHCP, DNS, and Web Servers.

  • Experience with the physical installation of network equipment in data centers.
