Why this role matters
Has responsibility for the management of the Magna Park operations on night shift between the hours of 22:00 and 06:15 including activities across all functional processes including and not limited to loading, transport, perpetual inventory, core warehouse operations.
Key purpose of role is to manage a number of various warehouse activities containing a mixture of team member and agency grades safely.
To fully support and deliver the service as specified within the external customers contract schedules.
The role holder must work closely with both the external and internal customers to support and resolve issues that may arise.
The role holder must develop and sustain good working relationships within BTSC and customers.
The Manager will lead the responsibility of delivering the productivity of the areas of the operation where possible to improve against targets and SLAs and meet financial challenges.
Lead continuous improvement based on BT continuous improvement principles.
To enhance the user experience of the WMS system and optimise the operation to become a world class operation.
Deliver operational excellence through effective development and management of standardised repeatable and reliable processes that deliver a high level of sustainable quality – in line with ISO accreditation and to fully meet customer KPI’s as per commercial obligations.
Ensures that BT meets its obligations with regard to health and safety and associated legislation. The role holder must actively enable a culture of BT Supply Chain’s Zero Harm strategy and actively inspect the workplace through site walks.
The role expects support and contribution to the implementation of Supply Chain and customer strategies.
What you'll be doing
To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Magna warehousing operation.The Magna operation is a 24/5 hour operation and the role will involve an element of shift working predominantly night shift.
To act as lead manager for specific operational functions within the Magna operation, safety, security, training, service, people development.
Meet H&S and compliance standards assessed through regular audits. Action a strategy of zero harm throughout the operation.
Manage, achieve and improve productivity standards across operational scope and drive operational efficiencies and revenue growth to enhance profit margins.
Responsible for sustaining and developing improved levels of operational quality of processes. Standardised operating procedures to be maintained and developed to meet audit compliance, underpinned with techniques in continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
Complete daily analysis of operational performance determining root-cause of problems. Develop action/improvement plans that are project managed to timely completion using basic project management tools.
Timely cascade of BTSC comms and articulation of key messages from SMT and wider BT. Actively engage and support team members on a daily basis with regular face to face contact as required.
Proactively take forward the BT people management agenda and that Performance, Conduct and Attendance issues are dealt with in a timely and professional manner aligned with the relevant HR processes to address/overcome.
To coach his/her directline reports to the standard required to meet business targets by using development / coaching techniques. Responsible for the development of the team through personal development plans and to manage regular monthly 1:1s.
Continuous development - the role holder will need to understand the companies approach to continuous development. All performance is to be assessed and formally reviewed against peer group / team performance targets and recorded each quarter according to the e-Performance calendar. The role holder should also set standards and objectives for all their people which then form part of one to one’s and performance reviews, the details of which should be recorded on BT’s HR system. The role holder will challenge any behaviour which undermines the operation and follow the appropriate actions and procedures to rectify any performance issues within their team.
To develop and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers and internal business partners to ensure business benefits are delivered and meet operational needs as well as successfully executing business change (minor and major programmes). This includes transformation managers, service delivery teams and other operational units (e.g. distribution).
Creates a culture which embraces continuous improvement through robust and effective performance management and engagement practices
Requirement to attend review meetings, as required, with 3rd party suppliers and customers etc.,
Responsible in dealing with any customer escalations relating to the warehouse operation.
Will operate within budget and contract constraints and may make a contribution towards policy decisions.
Work with the project team on all new work and customer transitions as part of BT Supply Chain’s growth agenda.

Good working Knowledge of the High Jump & Reflex WMS system
Good understanding of Supply Chain systems and processes.
Experience in people management, able to think creatively and provide direction.
Ability to lead, motivate and influence cross functional teams in a complex global environment to deliver business benefit.
Process mapping and basic skills in continuous improvement & Lean techniques.
Basic project management – successfully build, manage and execute project plan.
Proven leadership capability and ability to drive a high performance culture developing brilliant teams in line with BT’s Challenging Leadership philosophy.
Commercial Awareness - ability to manage a P&L and assess opportunities for revenue/saving.
Good communicator and well developed interpersonal skills to lead conference calls and team meetings as well as provide articulate updates to the BTSC senior leadership team.
Experience to deliver change management programmes through robust people engagement and transition management within their operational scope.
Has the gravitas to manage challenging individuals and difficult people situations.
Basic ability to analyse, test and challenge current thinking/practice and formulate new actionable approaches.
Good working understanding of industry Health and Safety practices.
