BT Senior Field Engineer in Singapore

Purpose Of Role:

This role is responsible for providing installation and maintenance support to our customers on a wide range of network switches, servers, storages, SAN switches and security products. The individual will be accountable for the successful installation, maintenance and break-fix of Oracle, HP, DELL, IBM & Cisco isco CPE.

This role will be required to support a 24x7 business and thus the successful applicant must be willing to be on call per a shared roster.

The key characteristics required for this position are Customer orientation, flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile to satisfy customer requirements in addition to Technical competence and team spirit. Strong interpersonal skills , good written and verbal communication skills are essential for this job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide build and deployment services for a wide range of Cisco product, Oracle/HP/IBM/DELL Wintel servers, storages, SAN switches & security products

  • To participate in all phases of a project rollout (pre-installation discussions, site survey, information gathering, solution feasibility study, unboxing & rack mounting of equipment, configurations, UAT)

  • Create and review technical documents e.g. installation documents, UAT documents, SOPs etc.

  • Performing maintenance work such as firmware upgrades, hardware break fix, restoration of equipment configuration

  • Provide 24/7 maintenance support for a wide range of Cisco product, Oracle/HP/IBM/DELL servers, storages, SAN switches & security products

  • Act as a mentor to the team and is responsible in upgrading their knowledge in IT Technology products/solutions

  • Provide support to other team members should they have issues resolving the incidents on site at all times

  • Conduct technical sharing sessions for the team

  • Perform stand-in RE duties when necessary

  • Performs logistic support requirements such as research, and equipment and spare part inventories

  • Documents problems and resolution and updating the ticketing system for future reference

  • Develops and update the documents for operations procedure and best practices

  • Evaluation/Test/Installation of equipment with appropriate controls and standards.


  • Good written and verbal English skills Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar, with 2-5 years of relevant experiences.

  • Must have valid Certifications in Solaris, Windows and Red Hat Linux such as Solaris System Administration Certification and RHCSA

  • Preferably with certification in ITIL Foundation.Key Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to perform installation, in-depth problem analysis and resolution tasks for Red Hat Linux, VMWare, Solaris and Oracle products, using diagnostics tools and commands

  • Hands-on working experience in installing and troubleshooting the products such as Oracle T-Series, M-series & X-series servers, LDOMs, Oracle STK range of storage (such as STK2549, STK 6140, SE 3310) & Oracle STK Tape Library such as SL500.Good to have:

  • Hands on experience installation, support & troubleshooting of Cisco Switches & Routers

  • CCNA certifications

  • Working knowledge in SAN, such as Brocade switches, HDS Storage & EMC Storage
